Stomp Records was founded way back in 1994 with the release of the now legendary All-Skanadian Club Volume 1 compilation. The whole idea behind Stomp was to give the growing number of Canadian ska bands a home where they could get the support they deserved and hook up with other bands across North America.
Shortly after the release of the All-Ska 1, the Planet Smashers released their first self-titled album which met with tons of critical acclaim. Releases from The Kingpins, Flashlight, The Undercovers, JFK & The Conspirators, Skavenjah among others followed along with two more installments in the All-Skanadian series and follow up albums from The Planet Smashers, The Kingpins and Bedouin Soundclash.
As Stomp began to broaden it’s horizon US bands like The New York Ska Jazz Ensemble, The Toasters and Chris Murray joined the roster. After nearly 13 years of blood , sweat and a lot of tears, you can find Stomp releases in Canada, The USA, South America, Japan, Australia and all of Europe.
Stomp prides itself on being a truly independent, artist-friendly label that works way more like a family than a business. With a slew of new releases and tours planned from a bunch of incredibly talented ska bands coming up in the next year, Stomp continues to promote and release quality ska music in all it’s varying styles regardless of current musical trends.

The Hellbound Hepcats are bringing back the sound of the 1950's with an aggressive, big-beat twist-seamlessly fusing elements of Johnny Burnette, Chuck Berry and Brian Setzer with the pure energy of rockabilly. These hardworking rock'n'rollers combine the rawness and passion of the Sun Studio sessions with a harder, faster, more hip-shaking rhythm that is all their own. The Hellbound Hepcats' music reflects the rebellious spirit of early rock n' roll without imitating it. Their originality adds a much-needed new spin to the current rockabilly scene.
The 13 track self-titled rockabilly album is a homage to the spirit of rebellion that gave birth to the rock n' roll of the 1950's. The album was recorded at Moonbabe Studio with engineer/producer Tean Schultz. All the songs were written over a a four year span by lead-singer and guitarist Alexander Brown and stand-up bassist Jordan Peddie. From heart-throbbing ballads like “She's The Reason Why” to beat-bopping dance tunes like “Gimme More” and “Brand New Forty-Five”, the sound and themes of the songs are diverse. From the arrogance of “How Many Girls” to the tenderness of “She's The Reason Why”, the album draws inspiration from the never-ending battle between love and lust.

Step outside and put up your dukes cuz Montreal's blue-collar road-warriors The Beatdown are set to knock out their debut self titled full-length this summer!
This hardworking four-piece outfit has a deep and unyielding passion for roots reggae, ska and Jamaican music while adding their own elements of 60's soul delivered with a gritty and uncompromising punk rock ethic. Formed out of the ashes of the now legendary trad ska soul band The One Night Band, The Beatdown bring the heavy heavy reggae sound to the masses with their explosive recordings and energetic live shows. Although the band formed less than a year ago they have toured more than 10 countries sharing the stage with Vernon Maytone (The Maytones), The Slackers, The Planet Smashers, Chris Murray, U-Roy, Subb and The Johnstones just to name a few and have enjoyed top billing at the Montreal International Reggae Festival, Montreal Ska Fest and the Ottawa Ska Fest among others.
The self-titled record features twelve hard-hitting tracks of pure summer time goodness. Recorded over several months at Indygene studios by producer Alex Giguere (Planet Smashers, Staylefish, The One Night Band, The Real Deal, RDC, Mighty Stef), The Beatdown brought in some good friends and members of the ska elite to lend their talents to a few tracks. Josh Fuhrman (Planet Smashers , Kingpins) on tenor sax, Larry Love (One Night Band) on organ and Patty Tee (Kman & The 45s) on trombone round out this stellar recording.
True to their working class roots, The Beatdown will be shooting a video for the first single “Get Ready” then will embark on a month-long Canadian national tour starting July 1st (including appearances on The Victoria Ska Fest) before returning to burn up European stages later this summer.
