Montreal, august 2009. After staying away from the local hardcore scene for 2 years, to finish school, travel the world and raise children, the ex-members of Tomahawk Carriers finally decided it was time to get back in action. In their last 18 months together, they released 2 demos, 1 EP, played around 30 shows, sharing stages alonside scene favorites like Another Breath, Have Heart, Shipwreck, Risky Business, Die Young, Ceremony, Soul Control, Sinking Ships, Life Long Tragedy, Beneath The Massacre, and A Perfect Murder, ultimately making
them one of the hardest working band in the Montreal hardcore scene.
The first thing everybody agreed on when R.A.W. was put together, is that this wouldn’t be the same band, not even the next logical step. It would be louder, darker, vicious and would leave a mark. Fueled by the need to make a serious statement against everything wrong in this world and the desire to write fierce anthems designed for live delivery, Rise Above Words is out there to raise fists and voices.
Their first demo, “Requiem”, was recorded, produced
and mixed entirely by the band themselves. It will be out on the streets in summer 2010, and is already available online for free download. Another demo will be out by the end of the summer.
