Hailing straight from Quebec City, Get The Shot is a D.I.Y. band formed by a bunch of outcasts who wanted nothing more than a chance to spit their fury at the face of the world. Born from the ashes of local acts such as Bridge Too Far and Not 4 Pigs, the band plays an unpretentious spirited hardcore punk tinged with the desperation of a cold and disaffected youth. Pulling off a sound akin to American Nightmare’s early work, its latest achievement, “In Fear We Stand”, is a dark and brooding record delivered with the distinctive ferocity and violent vigour of 5 disillusioned spirits who have nothing left to lose. No fashion, no frills, no lies. Get The Shot is all about rage and anger toward this harsh place we live in.

Le titre du E.P. traduit cet état de peur généralisé qui caractérise le monde contemporain : la peur de l’Autre, la peur de l’inconnu, la peur du différent, la peur de la répression, la peur de soi-même. Il va sans dire que c’est le thème-clé de tous les textes. Ainsi, à la malheureuse devise nationale américaine « En Dieu nous croyons », nous opposons « Dans la peur, nous nous tenons ». Le titre du E.P. est alors à la fois le constat d’une société et d’individus qui n’avancent pas, qui n’évoluent pas parce qu’ils éprouvent constamment la crainte violente d’un danger réel ou imaginaire mais c’est aussi un cri de ralliement pour les exclus, les dérangés comme nous qui se serrent encore les coudes pour lutter contre l’oppression, qu’elle provienne de quelqu’un d’autre ou de soi-même.
